Human Resources – How Do We Start The Human Resource Planning (1 of 10)

Human Resources” is one of the key resources management of a business. You would want to know how we start to plan for our human resources. We post this question to the Managing Director or the business owner. You would be surprise that the answer is depend on the business plan.

From the business plan, the Human Resource Manager would discuss with the operation manager, finance manager and the head of department to establish what sort of people they need. The input would then be compiled into Human Resource Planning blueprint for three years.

Human Resource Planning shall address the following areas of concern:

  1. The type of Human Resource required – Manager, Executive or Support staff;
  2. The job description of each position would need to be spelled out in the Human Resource Planning form;
  3. In the Human Resource Planning form, the requestor would also need to give input on the pre-requisite of the education and experience;
  4. When this position is not in place, what the consequence would be.

From the above, you would note that it is important which position is crucial and its impact on the organisation.I would urge that the Manager or Head of Department to look at the current staff profile. More important is to have a session with the staff to look at their Human Resources needs. What I would do is to ask the staff, “what they would like to do more to contribute to the bottom line and also which areas they would want to increase their knowledge to do their job better”

You would be surprise that the staff responded that they want better tools to do their work better. Others indicate the needs for an effective communication system to share their technical knowledge. Human Resource Planning is being kick off to establish addition headcount or with other objectives. From the input, it appears that Human Resource Planning would also cover the development of its human resources.
