Human Resources – Career Planning (5 of 10)

Human Resource plays a critical role in formulating the systems for career planning. You would ask why. Why do we need career planning? Similarly, if we do recall when we graduated from school or varsity, we looked forward to join those companies that take care of our career.

We noted that Human Resource developed the Performance Appraisal system with career planning process. You would agreed that’s the right approach taken by Human Resource.

Human Resources management focuses on the current performance and the organisation capability. Human Resources Development forecasts the future needs of the organisation. Human Resources Development works closely with heads of department to visual the need of tomorrow and how to build these capabilities.

We recognize that the mission of Human Resource development is invested correctly in the right person. Its policy and procedures must be well conceded and acceptable to us.

The finance is concerned with cash outflow, while we are more concerned about develop people and invest in our employees. We are also in agreement with finance that Human Resource management shall track such investment. Career plan for the organisation is to made our mission the employee’s vision too. That’s why alignment is important. The values designed by the management together with Human Resource, must be communicated. When both values correlated, job satisfaction is high and contribution made would be significant.

Human Resource crafts the corporate values, designs the career path for each post, and offers opportunities to staff to realize their potential. We recognize that to be the choiced employer, all candidates would want to find out the learning option, the career opportunity to move horizontally or vertically. You would advocate that new recruit should take time to learn and grow with the company. This may not be always being what the next generation of workforce would expect.

Career Planning is a systematic approach and would take some time to chart the path for each individual. The process is usually involved the Human Resource management. Later Human Resource Development would map out the acquisition of knowledge and skills to discharge the new roles and expectation.

This is an important aspect for the company to grow. Career Planning is entrusted with Human Resource.
